FAFSA and Financial Aid -- What Libraries Need to Know! Online
This month's Youth Services Critical Conversations Club is relevant to anyone working in a library who might encounter folks who are working through the financial aid process, no matter what age they are. We are happy to welcome Christina Winstead, Associate Director for College Access Initatives at the Washington Student Achievement Council. Christina will talk to us about what is going on with FAFSA and why it's a little different this year, how it is impacting the public, and how to direct patrons towards financial aid assistance.
What is Youth Services Critical Conversations Club (YS3C)?

Once a month the YS3C (Youth Services Critical Conversations Club) meets to learn about and discuss an essential topic relevant to serving youth in libraries. Content will vary and may consist of presentations or facilitated conversations with guest speakers, brainstorming sessions, discussions, and more. There may be a small amount of pre-work before the meeting (no more than one video or one reading).
To ensure a productive discussion for everyone, please be willing to participate in conversation or interactive activities either via microphone or chat. Meetings will be recorded and posted to the Youth Services Niche Academy page along with any documents and resources. While any library staff can attend, the topics will be focused on youth services, so we'd love to see a great turn out from our youth services specialists.
Through YS3C, we hope to create a community of practice amongst library staff who serve youth in Washington State, break down silos between libraries and other members of the youth services ecosystem, and facilitate open and productive dialog.
